Tech Valley is Awesome

One of my developer buddies (a local Build Guilder and lead engineer at Agora Games, which happens to be a client of mine), Dave Czarnecki, was featured on Github’s very first Game Bytes this morning. I’m really stoked for him.
It’s very exciting to see local Tech Valley (New York’s Capitol Region and surrounding area of Troy, Schenectady, Albany, and Saratoga Springs) companies getting big national attention. The developer community here is growing like wild fire, and bigger and better stuff keeps spilling out into the greater industry. Beyond Agora Games, there are many great companies, apps, and games created here, including:
- Dark Sky was featured by John Gruber on Daring Fireball
- Vicarious Visions has long done mobile/handheld ports of popular video games. More popular recently is their Skylanders multi-plataform game, whose action figures and collectables can be found in Best Buy and toy stores across the country
- Crescent Moon Games is even right here in Clifton Park. I had been playing their games for years before I realized it.
- Statamic is taking the web by storm (shameless plug)
I love it here.
